Oxy20 is a strong prescription opioid. It may be an immediate-release tablet or an extended-release product such as OxyNEO/OxyContin, so the exact label and formulation must be checked.
Medical benefits include:
- Strong relief of severe pain when non-opioid treatments are ineffective or unsuitable.
- Improved comfort, rest, mobility and daily function when severe pain is properly controlled.
- Immediate-release oxycodone may treat shorter-lasting or breakthrough pain, while extended-release tablets provide continuous pain control for severe, persistent pain.
Oxycodone 20 mg can cause drowsiness, constipation, nausea, dependence, addiction, overdose and life-threatening slowed breathing, especially when starting treatment or after a dosage increase.
Take it only as prescribed. Never crush, chew or dissolve an extended-release tablet. Do not combine it with alcohol, alprazolam, clonazepam, morphine, hydromorphone, GHB, sleeping medication or other opioids unless specifically managed by a clinician. Keep naloxone accessible; call 911 if someone cannot be awakened or is breathing slowly or irregularly.
